WHAT IS EDUKAMPYON?

Rex Education is pledged to accompanying every Filipino learner throughout their lifelong learning journey. REX upholds the pillars of education—learning to know, learning to do, learning to be, learning to live together, and learning for transforming oneself and society.

Edukampyon is REX's pledge in action, an imperative to ourselves, to every member of the REX family. As an agenda, it is an invitation to everyone to consciously champion education. As an advocacy and mission, it engages education duty-bearers and aims to build their capacities for respecting, protecting, and fulfilling every Filipino learner’s right to quality education. As an ideal personified, Edukampyon is every education duty-bearer with the best interest of the learner in heart and mind.

Edukampyon comes from the combination of two Filipino words edukasyon and kampyon. Being an Edukampyon is being an education champion who promotes the Filipino Whole Learner.

WHO IS THE FILIPINO WHOLE LEARNER?

Edukampyon ensures that the Filipino learner is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, challenged, and values-oriented.

In Early Childhood and Basic Education, it promotes six developmental domains and 21st-century skills. The Bawat Paaralan, Edukampyon program encourages collaboration between schools, families, and communities. For Higher Education, Edukampyon prepares learners for societal roles through partnerships with HEIs, industries, and government. It emphasizes graduate attributes, 21st-century skills, and responsible global citizenship. In Adult Education, Edukampyon focuses on professional development and self-actualization, supporting teachers and recognizing accomplishments through programs like Gawad Edukampyon. It celebrates Filipino learners and education duty-bearers, inspiring quality education for all.

Every learner enters the school healthy, happy, nurtured, and ready to be molded into a Filipino with 21st century skills.

HEALTHY

Every learner is looked after and actively participates in a learner-friendly environment where he feels safe, supported, stimulated, and respected.

SAFE

Every learner has an opportunity to nurture his talents, engage in productive and creative undertakings, collaborate with other learners, and develop his full potentials as a well-rounded person.

ENGAGED

Every learner can confidently and comfortably apply his learnings and develop his abilities with support from the school, family, community, government, and other institutions.

SUPPORTED

Every learner develops into a smart lifelong learner with the initiative to improve his quality of life and help in nation-building through the pursuit of higher education, employment, entrepreneurship, or middle-level skills development.

CHALLENGED

Every learner develops a clear understanding of his duties to self, family, community, and country; and has a balanced view of the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions of human existence.

VALUES-ORIENTED

The Bawat Paaralan, Edukampyon Framework

A key component of REX’s Edukampyon initiatives, the Bawat Paaralan, Edukampyon (BPE) Continuum is a whole-school approach that hopes to become a new standard of best practices in learning institutions across the country, so that every school maximizes their capacities for developing Filipino Whole Learners.

The whole-school approach has been defined by the UNESCO International Bureau of Education as: “addressing the needs of learners, staff and the wider community, not only within the curriculum, but across the whole-school and learning environment. It implies collective and collaborative action in and by a school community to improve student learning, behavior and wellbeing, and the conditions that support these.”

This approach has been used for various education campaigns and advocacies worldwide. In Australia, a school system employed the whole-school approach to promote education against drug abuse. In Africa, the whole-school approach was used to promote a society and a future without violence. In our case with the BPE, the whole-school approach is being used to promote the Filipino Whole Learner.

5.

The BPE benchmarks and indicators are a product of research and innovation, and were drawn from the wealth of practices in our schools and communities. These include procedures and action steps prescribed by established programs and policies, as well as customary practices that may seem insignificant individually but can be synergized with other practices for maximum benefit.

Achieving the benchmarks set under the BPE framework is crucial, but not the only process involved in the implementation. It requires systematic assessment, planning, and collaboration with your school’s stakeholders, students, parents, and community members. To help you track the school’s progress, we follow a 3-tier implementation framework wherein schools should aim to move up from implementing (advocate), to innovating (actuator), to inspiring (advancer) other schools.

(Tier 1)

Implementing

Whole Learner Philosophy

ADVOCATE

The school engages in self-discovery and defines its own goals.

(Tier 2)

Innovating

Whole Learner Philosophy

ACTUATOR

The school develops innovations in programs towards making the school a Whole Child advocate.

(Tier 3)

Inspiring

Whole Learner Philosophy

ADVANCER

The school creates impact and shares innovation with other schools.
